CHIGUMUKILE SCHOOLS’ WASH TRANSFORMATION

And as the pipes were laid and the taps flowed, the faces of students lit up with joy. No longer did they have to sacrifice their education for survival. With clean water at their fingertips, they could focus on their studies, their futures bright with possibility.
In the vibrant community of Traditional Authority Kuntaja, lies Chigumukile Schools’ (both Primary and Secondary) battle for clean water and sanitation was a daily reality. Students, teachers, and staff alike would trek kilometers daily to fetch water, taking away their precious time, leaving little room for learning and growth.
Thanks to Freshwater Project International and its partners Tufts, and Engineers without Borders, embarked on a mission to bring a modern piped water system to Chigumukile, a system that would not only quench thirst but also ignite a wave of transformation. From the drilling of boreholes to the installation of solar-powered pumps and the construction of tank towers, every step forward brought renewed hope.
Change sparked hope. Clean water brought unity and progress. Now, children's laughter fills Chigumukile, a promise of brighter tomorrows.
