KHULUVI PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ WATER STORY

Nestled within Muhuliri Village, amidst the lush landscapes of Zomba district, Khuluvi Primary School stood as a beacon of inspiration for over 1400 students. Yet, behind the school gates lay a silent struggle – a daily battle for access to clean water and basic sanitation. For these children, education was more than just textbooks and classrooms; it was about overcoming obstacles that extended beyond the classroom. With a non-functional bore well and no provision for handwashing, students were forced to trek 2-3 kilometers each day just to fetch water, stealing precious time from their studies and diminishing their hopes for a brighter future.
But amidst these challenges, a glimmer of hope emerged. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Freshwater Project International. With the construction of a new bore well and a human-centered handwashing station, the burden of long walks was lifted, and a sustainable source of clean water became a reality right on the school premises. The impact was immediate and profound. With improved access to water, no longer did students have to sacrifice their education.
Today, Khuluvi Primary School stands as a testament to the transformative power of water. It's not just about quenching thirst or washing hands; it's about nourishing dreams and empowering lives. As these students embark on their journey of learning, they do so with renewed hope and confidence, knowing that with every drop of water, their dreams are being watered, and their futures are being shaped.
With education thriving on clean water and dignity, this transformation marks a significant step towards a brighter future for these students.
