Philip Wolstenholme
Board Member
A native of Manchester, England, Philip Wolstenholme graduated from Imperial College, University of London with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and became an Associate of the City and Guilds Institute. With 40 years of experience in mechanical and chemical engineering, including 36 years focused on water and wastewater projects, Philip Wolstenholme concluded his career as a Fellow and Vice President at Brown and Caldwell Environmental Engineers.
Since 2017, Philip has been an invaluable volunteer with Engineers Without Borders (EWB) USA and Freshwater Project International, bringing his wealth of knowledge to projects across Malawi and Latin America. His hands-on field experience and ease in navigating the challenges of developing countries have made him a trusted leader in delivering sustainable water solutions. Philip is also a dedicated Rotarian with the Rotary E-Club of WASH which has deepened his commitment to global water solutions.
As the technical director for FPI, Philip has visited Malawi five times, contributing his engineering expertise to project assessments, water quality testing, system designs, and construction. He has also mentored and empowered local staff, ensuring long-term resilience of these critical projects.
For Philip, the most rewarding moments occur when water begins to flow—often for the first time in years—at healthcare facilities that have long been without. His passion for making a tangible difference is evident in every project he undertakes, and his dedication transforms lives through access to clean water. Beyond his professional achievements, Philip is an avid hiker, photographer, and world traveler, having explored over 50 countries.
